The Phylum Porifera
Sponges are what comes to mind when people mention the phylum Porifera. Sponges (most organisms in the phylum), are multicellular which are formed of pores and channels allowing water to pass through. They are heterotrophic and lack cell walls. They lack tissue and organs. There are about 5,000 species of sponges throughout the world.
